Former Gurkha soldier Hari Budhamagar, who conquered Mount Everest with a double amputee above knee, receives congratulations from Prime Minister Prachanda. Budhamagar's remarkable achievement is honored with a grand welcome at Tribhuvan International Airport, attended by a hundred soldiers. Minister of Tourism Sudhan Kiraniti joins in the reception. Kathmandu : Former Gurkha soldier Hari Budhamagar, who climbed Mount Everest with an amputated hand, was congratulated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda. Prime Minister Prachanda congratulated Budhamagar today by inviting him to Singh Durbar. He was given a grand welcome at Tribhuvan International Airport. In honor of a Magar soldier who lost both his arms (above the elbows) while serving in the British Army in the war in Afghanistan in 2010, a hundred soldiers were present at the airport.
Hari Budha Magar climbed Mt. Everest with the help of an artificial leg.
Hari Budhamagar reached the summit of Mount Everest on Jestha 5, 2033 (May 18, 2023) during the ongoing spring season. Minister of Tourism Sudhan Kiraniti also reached the airport to welcome and honor him.
Double Amputee Above Knee
With this ascent, Hari became the first person to kiss Everest's summit with a prosthetic leg. With the help of an artificial leg, Budhamagar reached the summit of Mount Everest. After five years of effort from his mud house in Rolpa Thabang Rural Municipality, Budhamagar successfully climbed Everest. He had served in the British Army's Gurkha Regiment for 15 years.
Guinness World Recorder Hari Budha Magar
Prior to Everest, Budhamagar had climbed other peaks such as Mont Blanc (4,810 meters), Cho Oyu (8,188 meters), Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters), and Merapi (6,176 meters). He also holds the record for participating in the Everest Base Camp and Sky Drive over Everest.
